What is Laser Eye Surgery

Laser eye surgery is an operation which aims to perfect human eyesight using a computer controlled precision laser. During the fifteen-minute surgery the laser reshapes the cornea of the eye in a predetermined manner to improve your vision. The two most common types of laser eye surgery are LASIK and LASEK, although there are several other types of refractive surgery that can improve your vision when laser surgery is not the most appropriate option.

More Frequently Asked Questions

How much laser eye surgery cost?

There is no doubt that laser eye surgery requires a substantial investment. However to fully judge the cost of laser eye surgery it is important to compare it to the alternatives. The figures show that the build up of costs from wearing glasses and contact lenses, even over as short as a five-year period, far outstrips the once off investment in laser eye surgery. Allow us to reiterate that point: laser eye surgery is less expensive than wearing glasses or contact lenses.

Add to this the immediate peace of mind and life-changing freedom that laser eye surgery provides and this becomes an option that any glasses-wearer or contact-user should immediately explore.

At the Wellington Eye Clinic an investment in Wavefront-optimised surgery through LASIK or LASEK comes to €2050 per eye, while our range of customised surgeries are priced at €2200 per eye. All of these fees are tax deductible with the Revenue Commisioner at 22%, while all VHI and Quinn Healthcare customers receive an extra 15% discount. Full Breakdown of Costs. Finance Available.
