Orthopaedic clinic | Sports Surgery | Whitfield Clinic Waterford
The Whitfield Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic is a Specialised Centre for innovative orthopaedic surgery. The Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic specialises in Hip and Knee Joint Replacement, and knee ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery.
In recent years the area of osteoarthritis (joint wear) has seen dynamic changes, from traditional hip joint replacement using cemented stems and polyethylene (plastic) socket liners to harder wearing metal and ceramic bearings, to the newer concept of Hip Resurfacing. Over a period of time research has shown that plastic liners have the potential to wear and cause loosening of the hip implant.
