Cardiology Treatment

Our specialist department is staffed by a very experienced and enthusiastic team of cardiac technicians.

Each technician has a minimum of eight years experience working in busy, acute care, cardiac centres and believes in a patient focused, high quality and efficient service.

Our departure is currently open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (GP Direct Access)

We are happy to facilitate your patients with a routine appointment within a week and perform same day testing on urgent referrals

Cardiology Tests include:

  • Resting ECG
  • Exercise stress testing
  • Ambulatory 24 hour BP monitors
  • Ambulatory 24 hour and 48 hour holter monitors
  • Echocardiography
  • Echocardiography with bubble studies
  • Transoesophageal echocardiography—on a daycare basis
  • Pacemaker follow up
  • Defibrillator (ICD) follow—up.

Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory

The Cardiac Cath Lab is state-of-the-art operating room for performing a comprehensive list of diagnostic and interventional procedures which includes

  • Coronary angiogram
  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
  • FFR & IVUS
  • Device implanation (pacemakers and defibrillators) including heart failure devices
  • Electrophysiology Studies and RF ablation therapy for rhythm disturbances
  • Percutaneous Trans-catheter Septal Closures – Patient Foramen Ovale, Atrial Septal defects, Patient Ductus Arteriosis etc
  • D/C Cardioversion
Our multidisciplinary team consists of a Cardiologist, Radiographer, Cardiac Technician, Scrub Nurse and a Circulating Nurse, who are all certified and experienced in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training.

A 6-bedded Angio-Day Unit is attached to the Cath Lab where patients are observed before undergoing procedures and are closely monitored after procedures.

The latest in state-of-the-art cardiac imaging technology to refine diagnosis and assist in patient management, including cardiac CT, cardiac MRI and nuclear cardiology.

Advanced Non Invasive Cardiac Imaging

Cardiac CT

Coronary calcium score

  • Test to quantify the extent of coronary calcification
  • Method of determining the risk of cardiovascular events and detecting the presence of coronary disease even before symptoms occur.

CT coronary angiography (CTA)


  • Allows “non-invasive” coronary angiography in selected patients
  • Excellent images of cardiac structures down to less than a millimeter in size, in a 10 minute scan without the risk of an invasive procedure.

Cardiac MRI

The gold standard imaging technique for diagnosis of disease of the heart muscle, such as

  • Left ventricular hypertrophy, inheirited, valvular, or ischaemic cardiomyopathies.
  • Management of complex ischaemic heart disease
  • Evaluation of need for ICD

Nuclear Cardiology

Technique to assess myocardial blood flow (perfusion) during stress and rest, offering

  • Higher sensitivity and specificity than conventional stress test to detect coronary disease
  • Ability to assess patients who cannot exercise for non cardiac reasons
  • Opportunity to identify the site and extent of ischaemia to plan revascularisation.
