Our skin is a barometer of general health – if you’re feeling poorly or stressed out your skin won’t be at its glowing best. Too much caffeine, alcohol, stress and not enough sleep and exercise will have an adverse and ageing effect.
So as well as improving your skin care routine, remember to drink six to eight glasses of water a day and consider other life style changes – like diet and exercise.
Hormonal changes also have an influence on the skin’s condition. Pregnancy and the menopause, being on the contraceptive pill or taking HRT may dry the skin, while many women experience a spot or two just before their period. You may also find that your skin is affected by some medications.
