About Acuwell

AcuWell came about from the personal experience with ill health of its founder and manager, Maria Maher, Lic. Ac., Cert. Ac. China, Dip. Tuina.

Maria first became interested in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine when she underwent treatment for cancer following surgery to remove a brain tumour. Acupuncture helped her overcome the negative side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and now continues to help her maintain good health.

At the time Maria already had a successful career in international business. However, her illness was a life-changing experience that gave her the desire to pursue a more personally-rewarding career, namely, a career helping to improve the health and quality of life of others.

Maria had experienced many therapies which complement conventional medicine. However, of these, it was acupuncture, and it forming part of an ancient, proven holistic healthcare system, known as Traditional Chinese Medicine, that particularly impressed her. She, therefore, embarked on studies in Ireland and China of acupuncture and its clinical practise.

To this day, Maria is passionate about acupuncture, Tuina and Traditional Chinese Medicine and using them to help improve the health and the quality of life of others.

Maria is a member of the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association and is an Affiliated Acupuncturist Member of the Zita West Network for Reproductive Health.

Maria’s acupuncture treatments are recognised by VHI, Hibernian Aviva Health, Quinn-Healthcare and other health insurance schemes.

Reproductive Health at AcuWell

As an Affiliated Acupuncturist Member of the  Zita West National Network for Reproductive Health, Maria Maher, AcuWell, has received training on Zita West’s holistic approach to obtaining optimum reproductive health.

Studies have shown that acupuncture is very effective for treating natrual fertility, infertility (male and female), supporting women during pregnancy and post-pregnancy.

The diagnostic processes and treatment protocols used at the Zita West Clinic in London are followed at AcuWell.  These cover a wide range of treatments to help:

• Boost fertility and conception
• Improve chances of IVF success
• Enhance pregnancy
• Support post-natal recovery
