Hair strand is very complex! Here’s a little insight into the composition of hair, upon which every AHI procedure is based:

Papilla: At the base of each hair follicle is a structure called the papilla, made mainly of connective tissue and a capillary loop. Cell division in the papilla is rare or non-existent.

Matrix: Around the papilla, the hair matrix is a collection of closely packed cells often interspersed with pigment-producing cells, known as melanocytes. Cell division in the hair matrix forms the major structure of the hair fibre and the inner root sheath. Of all cell populations in the human body, the hair matrix epithelium is one of the fastest growing.

Root Sheath: This structure comprises of an external root sheath, a middle layer, and an internal section of dead skin or ‘cuticle’, which runs together with hair fibre’s outermost layer.

Hair Fibre: This is composed of a section of dead skin that is continuous with the root sheath, an intermediate layer, and an inner core.

Other Structures:
Connected to each hair follicle is sebaceous gland, which generates the oily substance or ‘sebum’ that protects the hair and skin. Arrector pili muscles cause the follicle lissis to become more perpendicular to the surface of the skin. Apocrine glands secrete sweat. Hair follicle receptors sense position of the hair.

Hair loss treatments can provide a respite to people suffering from severe hair loss.

Know More About Hair Structure:

Hair is composed of strong structural protein called keratin. This is the same kind of protein that leads to the formation of nails and the outer layer of skin.

Each strand of hair consists of three layers.

  1. An innermost layer or medulla which is present in thick hair.
  2. The middle layer is known as cortex. Cortex provides strength and forms colour and texture of hair.
  3. The outermost layer is known as the cuticle. Cuticle is thin and colourless and serves as a protector of the cortex.
  4. Structure of the hair root:

Right below the surface of the skin is the hair root, which is enclosed in hair follicle. At the base of the hair follicle is dermal papilla. The dermal papilla is fed by the bloodstream which nourishes it and helps produce new hair. The dermal papilla is an important structure to hair growth as it contains receptors for male hormones and androgens. Androgens regulate hair growth. They can cause the hair follicle to get progressively smaller and the hair becomes finer in individuals who are genetically predisposed with this type of hair loss.

Our medication for hair loss is effective and safe. There are various products for hair loss that promote hair growth.
