The human body is made up of many different tissues-skin, lung, liver, etc. Each of which is made up millions of cells. These are all arranged in an orderly manner, each individual tissue having its own particular cellular structure. In addition, the appearance and shape of the cells of one organ differ from those of another.

In all tissues cells are constantly being lost through general wear and tear, and these are replaced by a process of cell division.

 
This occurs under strict control in normal tissues, so that exactly the right number of cells are produced to replace those that are lost; a cell will divide in half to create to new cells, each identical to the original.

If the body is injured the rate of cell production speeds up automatically until the injury is healed, and then slow down again.

The cells of cancer, however, divide and grow at their own speed and in an uncontrolled manner, and they will continue to do so indefinitely unless treatment is given. In time, they increase in numbers until enough are present for the cancer to become visible as a GROWTH or TUMOUR.

 
In addition to growing too rapidly, cancer cells are unable to organize themselves properly, so that the mass of tissue that forms does not resemble normal tissue. A cancer obtains its nourishment parasitically from its bearer, and will serve no useful purpose for that person whatsoever.
