Alcohol & Complexion

Your complexion is your beauty. A good complexion can make you look beautiful at any age. A clear and radiant complexion depends upon a healthy skin and the health of your skin depends a lot on your life style.

What you eat and drink has a major impact on your skin well being. In this regard, drinking alcohol over the limits i.e. more than a couple of glasses of wine a day, is not particularly skin friendly.
There are many reasons why alcohol is not good for a healthy complexion.

  •  Weakening of the body immunity: Alcohol weakens your immune system. It reduces your body’s absorption of vitamins and minerals, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the body.

  • Dehydration: Alcohol causes dehydration and makes your complexion ruddy. Lack of water deprives your complexion of precious moisture that’s makes it soft, smooth, glowing and youthful.

  • Broken blood vessels on the face: Alcohol causes expansion of your blood vessels. This results into distention and breaking up of capillaries, especially over the nose and cheeks.

  • Impairment of liver function: Excess alcohol intake causes impairment of functioning of your liver. Liver acts as a filter and removes toxic and harmful substances from the blood thereby preventing the rest of your body from noxious material.

Therefore to have a healthy body and a lovely complexion, alcoholic beverages should only be consumed within the recommended limits.
